SAI Party

That Saturday night we got all fancied up and went to a holiday party put on by the company I used to work for. They are a small government contracting company who really treasure their employees, and I just feel so lucky to be invited every year.

Here's the four of us at the party, off the dance floor just long enough to take this picture. Here's the dress that I wore. I was trying to go for a more dressy business-casual look. I think I did alright, although I wish it were just a bit longer. I wasn't super comfortable with how short it was.
Three of my favorite people! I've already mentioned L, in the middle. But on the right is my brother's girlfriend- who we all just adore! Seriously tho, she's awesome- so much fun!
Ok, I couldn't help myself with this one. The food was sooo good! I tried to take a picture of our meal, but the lighting was just not working for me. Instead of plated meals, they had stations. Which I think is just wonderful with the amount of people there (around 300). Two of each, the stations were as follows: appetizers, salads, soups, main meal, and then side dishes. So there was a bit of a line at first, but no table picking like there is for a buffet-style meal. And the food was seriously amazing. And of course the deserts- yum!

This past weekend Steve, myself and two of our best friends drove 4 hours (okay, 4 hours and 13 minutes to be exact) to Washington DC to visit some friends and family! We got to my brother's house around 10 and quickly downed the shots he had waiting for us. lol- I wish I were kidding about that. Anyway we tried to get home at a decent hour that night after the bars since my friend L had never been to DC before! So of course we had to get up early the next morning and do a little sight-seeing! And by ‘early’ I mean around 10… hey, that’s early for a Saturday! We didn’t get to do too much walking around, since it was freezing! But we did get to see the White House, Washington Monument, WW11 Memorial, and Lincoln.

So, a little secret- that is actually a dress under there. Steve and I are *hoping* to make it to Paris this Spring, and the second we decided that- I went out and found this adorbale spring dress perfect for France. And since I can't actually bust it out with 2 feet of snow on the ground, this is my winterized version of it.

My Prerogative

So here's my take on the video/fashion I posted on Monday. I'm liking the look- I felt bad ass all day! If only it were not snowy and dreary outside so I could sport my sunglasses.

Ok, so now that I have it up- its super dark. I guess that's what happens when your outfit is all black. So- here's an upclose picture of my blazer.

Daily Post at Word Press

So, I've decided to try to take part in this blog challenge featured on wordpress.  It is the 'Daily Blog Post'.  Just basically a way to get bloggers to post something everyday (which is obviously an issue for me).

So, today's topic:
What make you decide to start a blog?

That's a pretty easy one.  Really the main reason for all of this is to have a creative outlet. I used to scrapbook, paint, and dabble in photography all the time.  Now that I have a full time job and am going to school part time- I just don't have the time to do all of the things that I love anymore. I really just need an outlet so I don't keep arranging furniture! (haha, yes, this happens quite often when I get bored). 

Free Weekend

For the first time since... I don't even know when. Its been at least a year- Steve and I had NOTHING planned for the weekend!  We thought to ourselves- great! Let's just relax and spend some time with just the two of us. Sleeping in and just having absolutely nothing to do.

Well, guess what: I was extremely bored.  lol- I was so excited only to find that I love being busy!
So, I did a ton of freezer cooking and laundry!  haha- great weekend.

My Prerogative

So I had this thought at the gym the other day: to use a music video as inspiration for an outfit. I'm guessing it will either be kinda cool and funny, or just dumb and a waste of time, its a toss up.  So anyway, I'm going to use a really easy video as my first attempt at this.  Its also an older video, it just happened to be what was on while I was on the treadmill yesterday.

My Wardrobe Astrology

Sandra, at Sandra's Closet did a post at the beginning of the year about your 'Fashion Astrology'.  I was born on April 16th, so I'm a late Aries.  Daisy is my flower and Diamond is my stone (oh yeah!).  So, my zodiac fashion says that I am a early adopter- I add my own twist to the newest fashions.  Which I would say is pretty accurate. It also claims that I love color and I wear a lot of hats.  I guess that could be true to an extent. Although my favorite color is grey...

New Year's Resolutions

My New Year's resolutions for 2011:

(in no particular order)

-cook dinner at least 3 nights a week
-be more mindful of the clothes that I'm wearing
-exercise more (typical resolution)
-get a raise (wether that be a new job, or just a nice salary increase)
-keep the house cleaner
-post on this blog at least every 4 days
-and... do well in school!

Ok, I think that's it.  Pretty decent for a first blog post, right?  Here goes nothing!
